Distances are approximate and an attempt to provide an average driving distance for the day taking into account side detours to the sites mentioned.

 

Day 1

Darwin to Berry Springs

60km

 

Start the day at the Territory Wildlife Park. Be prepared to spend a large part of the day here whilst you view and interact with the Top End’s wildlife in their natural habitat.

After a big day at the park, enjoy an afternoon swim at the nearby Berry Springs Nature Park. Spend the night here and choose from various accommodation and food options in the area.

Day 2

Berry Springs to Bynoe/Dundee Beach

75km

 

For those that enjoy fishing, an early start is often the key for a successful fishing trip.

The Bynoe and Dundee areas have a range of fishing options from deep sea and reef fishing to coastal creek fishing.  The top end is renowned for coral trout, snapper, sail fish, mud crabs and the famed fighting fish, Barramundi.

Spend a night in the area feasting on your catch, or if not so lucky, there are food options in the area.

Day 3 & 4

Dundee Beach to Litchfield & Batchelor

Approx 250km

 

Allow yourself the time to enjoy and explore Litchfield National Park. Take in the strangeness of our Magnetic Termite Mounds, a dip under at least one waterfall or plunge pool, take a walk around the historic sights or through nature.

Most attractions are available with a normal car, however, during the dry season the 4WD tracks open for those after a little off road adventure.

The historic town of Batchelor has a colorful history that is worth investigating further via the museum or various walks.

Day 5

Batchelor to Adelaide River

50km

 

Take time to slow down today with a visit to the Adelaide River War Memorial. A beautiful but sobering reminder of the impact WWII had on this part of Australia.

For the history buffs a visit to the Adelaide River Railway Heritage Precinct will appeal.

For a bit of true Territorian character, consider a meal at the Adelaide River Inn or stay at Mt Bundy Station.

Day 6

Adelaide River to Daly River

Hire a boat to explore the majestic Daly River. This river is renowned for Barramundi fishing for those that are keen.

Stop into Nauiyu Community and see the historic Catholic Mission Church and local Aboriginal arts.
