The town has reinvented itself over the years, starting as a research farm, later a strategic allied vantage base in World War 2 and then the site of Australia’s first uranium mine. These stories come alive at the local museum.

The local airfield offers scenic flights and tandem skydives. Local companies offer tours into the National Park or head out bush on a Quad Bike tour. Be enthralled with a visit to the Butterfly Farm or Nina’s Ark, a wildlife rehabilitation centre. Share your talent at Karaoke at Rum Jungle Tavern every Friday night or have fun with a local at the Rum Jungle Bowls Club.
